One of my favourites from last year Jem and Viv’s wedding was such a fun day to shoot. We started off at Jem’s parents house in Chatham where Penny from Penelope Taylor make-up was busy getting Jem ready for her big day. I love shooting bridal prep at a house as it gives a much more personal touch to the final photos. While Jem was getting ready I grabbed a few detail shots from around the house including her stunning Vera Wang White dress and beautiful flowers by Sandra Lamb. We then headed off to St Mark’s church in Gillingham where I got some shots of Viv and his grooms-men before Jem arrived. It was such a lovely service with just a few tears shed and lots of laughter. After the service everyone gathered outside where Jem and Viv were covered in confetti, I’ve never seen so much! They were having their reception at the London Golf Club which is a stunning venue just up the road from where I live. We were met by our toastmaster for the day Peter Tautz who told us we needed to be quick to get our couples shots so we quickly jumped in a couple of golf buggies and made our way round part of the course. There is so much scenery there that we could have stayed out for hours but we had to head back for Jem and Viv to greet their guests before heading in for their wedding breakfast. During the breakfast we were entertained by harpist Harriet Adie who played some beautiful music. The speeches were funny, emotional and only a little bit embarrassing for the newly weds! The cake by Sue Pridie from All Shapes and Sizes looked amazing, there were also sweets to be had, a fun postbox for messages along with various cigars and whisky for the evening. Their first dance was amazing with Jem being spun round the dance floor! There was a glimmer of a lovely sunrise so we quickly went outside for some lovely evening shots before capturing some craziness on the dance floor.
This was such a lovely day and thank you to Jem and Viv for letting us be a part of it.
“We’re very grateful for Simon and the beautiful photos he took on our wedding day. We met him well in advance of the day and he was very professional and organised from the get go, answering any questions we had in the run up and also helping us with details for other local wedding suppliers. Both he and Carrie were a joy to be around the whole day and our friends and family commented on how comfortable they felt whilst the photos were being taken. We are very happy with our engagement and wedding photos and would definitely recommend him to all.
Thank you Simon! Love The Watts”
